“Our mission is to empower families to rejuvenate their mind, body, and spirit by connecting deeply with nature, nourishing foods, and transformative wellness practices. Through sustainable nature-based education, recreation, family development, and health. We provide an intergenerational trauma informed retreat space that nurtures holistic well-being of youth and families while caring for earth and each other.”
Who We Are
Generations Retreat & Grow Farm (GRGF), previously known as Racial Equity and Justice Org., is a BIPOC-founded and led nonprofit in Wabanaki Territory (Maine) focused on supporting rural low-income, underrepresented, Black and Indigenous families through land-based wellness and healing. After a decade of advocacy, education, outdoor access, growing food, and systemic change work, we have honed in on multigenerational healing as the foundation for racial equity and community resilience.
Our organization is shifting focus toward trauma-informed, multigenerational healing—centering the lived experiences of those impacted by racial battle fatigue, land displacement, and ongoing economic hardship. Rather than expanding our energy constantly reacting to oppressive systems, we are reclaiming space for restoration, cultural resilience, and collective care. This is not disengagement—it’s strategic refusal to be consumed by systems designed to exhaust us. Our liberation lives in healing.
